3. PATAN-RANI KA VAV:
It is one of the rare monuments built by a queen for her beloved king. It was commissioned by Rani Udayamati in memory of her husband king Bhimdev in the year 1063. It is one of the largest and finest step wells and is currently in the tentative list of UNESCO world Heritage Site. The central idea of the intricately carved sculptures is the 10 incarnations of god Vishnu, the avatars are accompanied by Sadhus, Brahmins, and Apsaras.
4. AHMEDABAD-ADALAJ NI VAV:
It is located only 18kms away from Ahmedabad. It was built in 1499 by King Mehmud Begda for Qween Rani Roopba. It is a fusion of Indian and Islamic elements of architecture. It is renowned for its intricately carved interiors related to history.
It is a large Hindu temple inspired by Pramukh Swami Maharaj, the present spiritual head of BAPS Swaminarayn Sanstha. The complex was build over 13 years. In accordance with Vedic architectural rules, no steel or iron has been used anywhere in the mandir. The mandir’s central area has a seven foot tall gold leafed murti of lord Swaminarayan. The temple’s five exhibition halls use audio-visual presentations and life sized sculptured figures and paintings are exhibited to explore various themes in Hinduism.
